Kathleen Foxx is an emerging author from Southern Ontario, Canada. She writes primarily in the thriller/suspense and gothic fiction genres, but also dabbles in action/adventure, romcom, sci-fi, and historical fantasy genres. In addition to novels, she enjoys flash fiction and has words published in several online and in-print literary magazines (including a second-place winning micro fiction). She tweets daily @kfoxx_writes and is very engaged in the writing community. She is also a founder and organizer of #MoodPitch, a pitch+ moodboard event that runs twice a year on Twitter. Find out more about that here.
Kathleen began hosting the #badasswriters podcast in November of 2021 (more info here). Her main goal is to connect writers with writers and industry professionals and make sure every writer feels more confident and less alone, no matter what stage of writing they’re in. She provides writing advice and interviews writers and authors who are just starting out, are traditionally or indie or self-published, and everything in between. She also speaks with industry professionals like literary agents, acquisitions editors, bookstore owners, Bookstagrammers, etc. to help writers who are working toward getting their work published.
Kathleen also edits the audio for the popular The Shit No One Tells You About Writing podcast.
Additionally, Kathleen offers freelance editing and critiquing services for fiction manuscripts and query packages. She maintains excellent 5 star reviews across the board and is a proud member of Editors Canada. You can find out more about her services here. Kathleen is a contract proofreader at Rising Action Publishing Collective, an up-and-coming Canadian independent publisher who’s doing great things! She is passionate about editing and helping other writers achieve their publishing goals. While she has been doing editing on some level as far back as in her college days, she is now working toward her professional Editing Certification through Simon Fraser University, the #1 innovative university in Canada, so she can prepare for her Certified Professional Editor (CPE) designation through Editors Canada. She’s currently the Primary Co-chair for her local branch/twig of Editors Canada (Hamilton-Halton).
As if that wasn’t enough already, Kat has been busily blazing her path toward becoming an editorial-minded literary agent, and in early 2023, she accepted a role as Editorial Assistant at The Rights Factory, a literary agency based in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, she’s learning the ropes of the behind-the-scenes aspects of agenting. Soon, she’ll begin building her own list of exceptionally talented writers, and she can’t wait until she’s open to queries!
When Kathleen is not writing or editing stories or podcast episodes, she enjoys reading, photography, cooking, summertime outdoor activities, road trips, travelling, and studying Portuguese. You can often find her in Ontario’s spectacular cottage country, behind the lens of her camera, boating, or reading. She is the proud mother of five kids and loves to inspire creativity in them. She’s travelled extensively throughout North America and Brazil, and adores the research stage of writing, so hopes to add more locations to her travels, if for no other reason than to immerse herself in research for her books. Coffee and wine start and finish her days. She’s also a huge fan of Outlander.
