Letting Go… a Short Story

Recently, I entered a short story contest on Reedsy that requires a 1,000-3,000 word story to be written on one of their prompts. They run this contest every week. The prompt I selected was to write a story about a top ten list.

I had no idea how this was going to go, but it spoke to me and I just had to do it. I just let my fingers do their thing on the keyboard, and this was the story that poured out of my soul in about two hours. I cried as I wrote it and when I read it afterword. I edited it and then pressed submit.
